Telephone” is one of the first Vessel songs we wrote and is emblematic of the Vessel spirit. It’s short, catchy, fun, and has a small hint of anxiety in there. Musically it brings to mind NYC post punk mixed with new wave of the late 70s while adding some modern twists.

Vessel is the latest export of dynamic and tight-grooved yet exploratory post-punk coming out of Atlanta. Building on a rich history of Athens art school punk and the reckless abandon of Atlanta DIY, the band is adept in their craft of calculated, yet danceable indie rock ready to break the mold. Each instrument in Vessel moves with the others in lockstep, a simultaneous motion not unlike gears rotating to operate a machine—but the end result is not mechanical. Instead, it is joyous and lively: something to move to. It’s dance music for bookish types, rock for the stressed and well dressed, punk for those who can’t and won’t stand still in our gentrified malaise.
